January 6, 2023 - Miami Beach weather is so warm and beautiful, it may seem strange to others that it takes me time to adapt when I come here - but it does. I have to establish a new rhythm to my day, try to reconnect with friends and find my sense of belonging. It helps me to get out to see the sun rise every day, To start with beauty.

January 6 - The full moon- the wolf moon - rose tonight as the sun set. I knelt in the sand, watching it become clearer as the sky turned dark. A man petting his dog sat nearby. A young couple holding hands walked in the surf and paused. A white sailboat appeared on the horizon … a small audience, sharing a moment of wonder together.

January 7, 2022. Oleta River State Park - a zebra butterfly flitting over a wild flower, next to the trail where I ran.

January 9 - it’s not all rainbows and butterflies here. Well, maybe today it is…

January 9, 2023 All summer long I looked for monarchs in Michigan. Today, in Miami Beach, one flew right by me in the alley behind my apartment, landing on a flower there while I stood and watched it opening and closing its beautiful wings.

January 10, 2023 - a seagull lands gracefully before me as I cool my feet in the surf
